Viropil (Viropil) is a combined antiviral drug for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. It is available in the form of film-coated tablets.
Pharmacological action
The drug acts on different stages of the virus's life cycle, which increases the effectiveness of infection suppression and reduces the risk of resistance. In combination, Viropil provides:
- Reduction of the viral load to an undetectable level.
- Increase in the number of CD4 lymphocytes, which strengthens the immune system.
- Reducing the risk of drug resistance.
Composition
Active ingredients:
- Dolutegravir — 50 mg.
- Lamivudine — 300 mg.

Indications for use
The drug is intended for the combined antiretroviral therapy of HIV-1 in adults. It is used for both patients who have not previously received treatment and those who are already undergoing therapy, if the doctor considers the prescription to be justified.
Important: Pregnant women should consult their doctor before taking this medication. Breastfeeding is not recommended for HIV-positive women to avoid transmitting the virus to their child.
Contraindications
Contraindications to the use of Virapil include:
- Allergies to any of the medication's components.
- Severe liver or kidney disease (the decision to prescribe is made on a case-by-case basis).
- Concurrent use with dopetilide due to an increased risk of side effects.
Special instructions:
- Patients with impaired renal or hepatic function may require dose adjustment.
- Viral load, immune status, and laboratory parameters should be monitored regularly.
- Additional treatment may be necessary for patients with hepatitis B or C, as well as other chronic infections.
- It is important to monitor the condition of the bone tissue due to possible changes associated with long-term use of the drug.
Mode of administration and doses
The drug is usually taken once a day, regardless of food intake. It is recommended to take it at the same time to maintain a stable level of the drug in the blood.
Important: therapy should be continuous. Missing doses or discontinuing treatment may lead to an increase in the viral load and the development of resistance to the drugs. Treatment is lifelong, even if the level of CD4⁺-lymphocytes is normalized.
Side effects
Among the possible side effects:
- Headache, dizziness.
- Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort.
- Fatigue, weakness.
