Pyostacin is an antibiotic based on pristinamycin. It belongs to the macrolide group and is used to combat various bacterial infections.
The drug is available in the form of round, film-coated tablets. The tablets are packed in blisters made of metallized foil and placed in a cardboard box along with the instructions.
Pristinamycin blocks protein synthesis in bacteria, which slows down their growth. As a result, the cell membranes become fragile and are destroyed. In high doses, the drug has a bactericidal effect.
