Osimertinib is an antitumor drug that belongs to the group of protein kinase inhibitors. It is available in the form of film-coated tablets.
Osimertinib blocks the work of a special enzyme, tyrosine kinase of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). This helps slow down or stop tumor growth and the spread of cancer cells, especially if an EGFR gene mutation is detected in the tumor cells (for example, deletions in exon 19 or L858R substitutions in exon 21). The drug may also reduce the risk of recurrence after tumor removal.
