Meksazolam is a benzodiazepine used to relieve anxiety. It is available under the names Melex and Sedoxil.

Action: The drug reduces anxiety symptoms without affecting coordination or mental abilities.

Indications

Meksazolam is prescribed for anxiety disorders, both with and without neurotic manifestations.

Contraindications

Mexazolam should not be taken in the following cases:

• hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines;
• alcohol consumption;
• myasthenia gravis;
• severe respiratory failure;
• sleep apnea syndrome;
• liver failure;
• pregnancy in the first trimester;
• breastfeeding;
• age under 18.

With caution: the drug is prescribed for brain lesions, heart, kidney, or liver diseases, as well as in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy and in case of depression.

Dosage

«Mexazolam» is taken orally:

• Adults: 1-3 mg three times a day.
• Elderly: no more than 1.5 mg per day.

The dosage is selected individually.

Important: do not combine the drug with alcohol - this increases the sedative effect and is dangerous.

Side effects

Possible side reactions:

• Nervous system: drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness.
• Digestive system: dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, changes in appetite.
• Muscles: weakness.
• Vision: blurred, double vision.
• General: changes in weight, allergic reactions, drop in pressure.
