Biotin (Vitamin B7): for beauty and health
Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin that is important for the health of the skin, hair, nails, and nervous system. In some cases, it is prescribed as an injection.
Form of release
The drug "Biotin for Injection 1 mg. 2 ml. (Fuso) (Vitamin H)" is available in a package of 50 ampoules. It is a solution that is administered intramuscularly.
Indications for use
Biotin is prescribed for:
- biotin deficiency: hair loss, brittle and dry hair, and nail problems;
- diffuse alopecia of non-hormonal origin: reduced density and intense hair loss.
Contraindications
Not recommended for:
- hypersensitivity to biotin;
- androgenic, patchy, or scarring alopecia;
- pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- individuals under the age of 18.
Dosage and treatment course
Adults are usually prescribed 10 mg once a day. The course should not exceed 90 days. The effect is noticeable after 4 weeks. If necessary, the course can be repeated.
Possible side effects
Side effects may include:
- headache (infrequent);
- diarrhea, flatulence (infrequent);
- skin itching, especially on the scalp (infrequent);
- lower back pain (infrequent);
- pain in the mammary glands (infrequent);
- fever (infrequent);
- rare: hives and gastrointestinal disorders.
